Noa Devine (he/him)

Noa Devine is a transmasculine director and screenwriter based in Brooklyn NY. He has a BA in English Literature with a minor in Mass Communications & Design. Much of his academic writing focused on the works of classic American writer, Ernest Hemingway, which provided Noa with the opportunity to travel to Paris, France in order to present his work at the American University of Paris and at Sorbonne University.

Noa was also an active participant in theatre production throughout his undergraduate career with experience in: Directing, set construction & dressing, sound & lighting design, and production management. Pivoting to film was a natural next step in his academic and professional life.

Currently, Noa attends Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, where he is pursuing his MFA in Cinema Arts with a concentration in Directing. He also has extensive screenwriting and editing experience, and often writes and edits his own projects.

Noa is passionate about telling authentic queer stories in his work, with a further focus on familial and relationship dynamics. He is concerned with innovative naturalism, telling stories largely framed from a modern, nonliteral hyper-americana lens.

His most recent project, SUNGROWN, is a proof-of-concept short film co-written by Noa Devine and Daisy Rosato. The piece centers a transgender girl who runs away from an abusive home with her little brother, only to find herself working on an illegal pot farm to make end’s meet. SUNGROWN is currently in post-production.
